Macbeth is the character who the entire play is based around. His biggest characteristics are ambition, bravery, ruthlessness, conscientiousness, recklessness, and tortured guilt. His ambition ends up being his fatal flaw. Macbeth is told his fate by the Witches at the beginning of the play and he is known as a great leader. The Witches told him that his future would lead to him becoming the King and his ambition took over. Even though he had many second thoughts, his wife persuaded him to kill King Duncan and he also hired assassins to kill Banquo. He then, unfortunately, begins to go mad with guilt while being haunted by apparitions.
